We shape sustainable development—structurally, collaboratively, and globally.

The Green Nations Foundation is an independent, non-profit Swiss organization based in Zurich with an international focus.

We are committed to promoting sustainable development and structural transformation in the Global South with determination, a sense of shared responsibility, and a long-term vision.

Our goal is to advance sustainable development where global objectives intersect with fragile systems, practical implementation challenges, and concrete potential for transformation—in partnership with institutions, businesses, and governmental and non-governmental organizations around the world.

How We Work

Whether we’re building climate-resilient agricultural markets in African regions, developing transparent financing mechanisms for local infrastructure in Asia, or establishing cross-sector platforms in fragile contexts:

We develop and support processes that pool responsibility, share knowledge, and make impact scalable.

Our work is based on three interlinked levels:

Provide guidance

We translate global agendas—from the UN Sustainable Development Goals to national climate plans—into action frameworks that can be adapted to specific themes and regions. This creates clarity about who can take on which roles and where the levers for structural change lie.

Build structures

Based on these guiding principles, we work with partners to develop programs, clusters, and partnerships. The central question is always: What structures are needed to turn intentions into action?

Enable implementation

Our platform-based approaches and dialogue formats create spaces where local stakeholders, institutions, and investors can collaborate in a meaningful way. This leads to development pathways that are not imposed from outside but are rooted in the local community.

What sets us apart

Our Theory of Impact

Our theory of impact is based on the assumption that sustainable development is most effective where global goals, institutional accountability, and local implementation are aligned.
Our Theory of Impact

Our Values

We view partnership as a reliable form of shared responsibility. Integrity arises when one’s claims and actions are in harmony.

Sustainability only gains depth when it is socially embedded and institutionally supported.

Our Commitment

We develop structures that enable change—through dialogue, knowledge transfer, and cooperation. Our programs and partnerships make a difference in the areas of climate protection, economic development, social inclusion, and institutional stability.

Strategic Partnerships

Our impact is greatest when diverse perspectives come together. We build strong partnerships with institutions, businesses, and civil society.

Our Origins

Green Nations was founded to help shape structural change—based on the conviction that sustainability only works when it is embedded, interconnected, and supported by a sense of responsibility.
